DOSE promotes educational medical experiences in which undergraduates participate in clinical activities alongside a

physician. Through shadowing, students obtain valuable insights about the practice of medicine and the medical

profession and physicians have the opportunity to give back to the educational community.

Our Objectives

To give Rice University undergraduates the opportunity to shadow physicians in a variety of medical fields 

To teach students the realities and qualities of being a successful physician through observation 

To provide students a hands-on approach to learning, one that is not possible in the classroom alone 

To develop compassionate and patient-oriented future physicians 

To provide physicians the opportunity to set an example of leadership and mentorship in their workplace while making a significant impact upon the next generation of medical professionals
